“Living Life in the Zone: A 40 Day Spiritual Game Plan for Men,” by Kyle Rote Jr. and Dr. Joe Pettigrew is an ideal devotion for men that are into sports. The Book itself is divided into sections such as, Personal Life, Marriage Life, Family Life, Work Life, etc. Each devotion is short, but applicable and is broken down into 6 sections:
- Thought for the Day: A Synapse of the Devotional
- The Coaches Corner: The teaching of the day.
- The Game Plan: The Specific Points out of the Day’s Teaching backed up with Scripture.
- Playmakers: Example (Good or Bad) of someone from the Sports World.
- Time Out: A time of Reflection and Prayer
- Today’s Assignment: A way to apply the teaching in a practical way.

I have just read a free eBook, “Parenting the Internet,” that REALLY opened my eyes about some of the dangers of the internet besides the obvious ones. It covers everything from pornography to cyber-bullying as well as some of the dangers of social media. It is a MUST read for EVERY parent. I read it out loud to my family and it resulted in a extremely productive talk. It was real enlightening to hear them (13, 14, 16 year olds) react to the content of the book. A Prophetic Word!
At the conclusion of last night’s elections, I keep thinking of something I heard Adrian Rogers say years ago which today I recognize as extremely prophetic….
“Friend, you cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the
wealthy out of freedom. And what one person receives without working
for, another person must work for without receiving. The government
can’t give to anybody anything that the government does not first take
from somebody. And when half of the people get the idea they don’t have
to work because the other half’s going to take care of them, and when
the other half get the idea it does no good to work because somebody’s
going to get what I work for. That, dear friend, is about the end of any
